Your doctor has told you that you need to exercise more and lose some weight, you’ve gained twenty pounds since you got married, or you don’t like what you see when you look in the mirror. Whatever reason you have for wanting to drop some weight, there are a few common things that hold many people back. Here are four of those reasons you’re not losing weight.
- You think you’re too busy
We are all given 24 hours in the day. It’s totally up to you how you use them. Everyone is busy with life, work, family, and hobbies. If you work an average of eight hours and sleep for eight, you still have eight hours to fit in exercise. You can swap one television show for a walk around the neighborhood. You can even workout while you watch television. If you can carve out 30 minutes a day or an hour every other day, you can find the time to exercise and lose weight.
- You spend too much time looking for the perfect workout
No matter what you choose you’re going to be bored with it in a number of weeks or months, so stop wasting time looking for the perfect one. When you find one that interests you, get started on it. You can build a file of videos and exercises that you rotate through when one gets boring. You don’t have to buy exercise videos either. You can find a plethora of videos online, which is much more worthwhile thanks to the variety that will keep you interested in exercise.
- You don’t adjust your eating habits
Exercise is one part of the equation for weight loss, but you still have to eat well. If you continue to eat a lot of junk food or portions that are too large, you will not see much weight loss. In order to lose weight at a good pace and change your overall lifestyle habits to be more healthy, it’s important to learn how to eat well. It’s easy to assume that because you’re being more physically active you can eat anything you want, but many things you probably enjoy are packed with more calories than you can burn off in an exercise session.
- You let people sabotage you
It’s hard to say no when a friend invites you over for pizza or your spouse wants to sit at home all weekend and do nothing but lounge around. If your girls’ nights out consist of too many alcoholic drinks and high-calorie apps, you may want to suggest a different way to spend time together. There will always be situations that come up that involve things will go against your plan for weight loss. Now and then you’ll want to do them, but most of the time it’s better say no. It’s easier to blame others for the reason you aren’t as active as you should be or eat things you shouldn’t, but they aren’t to blame.
Finding the motivation to lose weight isn’t easy. It takes hard work, dedication, and in many cases a change in lifestyle. If you need to lose weight, don’t put it off. The sooner you begin the process, the sooner you will see results.
